In his Los Angeles Clippers debut on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, John Wall came off the bench. It won’t come as a complete surprise if Wall ends up in the starting lineup sooner rather than later, though, given what we witnessed from him in his first-ever game for his new team. Bradley Beal, a former Washington Wizards teammate, seemed to concur.
As soon as he entered the game, we were all treated to a classic John Wall first-quarter performance. Beal was a keen observer of the high-profile game, and during Wall’s ferocious start, he could not help but call out his old Wizards backcourt partner:

Wall ultimately succeeded on all four of his shots in the opening frame, including a well-known dunk that displayed his characteristic quickness:

In 25 minutes of play, Wall finished with 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting, four rebounds, three assists, and a steal. In this game, Wall and Paul George both scored the most points for the Clippers. The LAC point guard made the best possible debut for the team’s supporters.
More significantly, Wall assisted the Clippers in defeating the Lakers, their tough cross-town rivals, 103-97. They scored their first victory of the year over LeBron James and company, who, to their credit, fought valiantly throughout the nail-biting contest.
The Clippers are scheduled to play two games back-to-back this weekend, thus John Wall is most likely to miss either Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings or Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
